How to Succeed in 2018

A new year is coming, and we want it to be your best one yet! It is important to go  into it with the right attitude and mindset, and a solid plan you can stick to. Here are a few tips to get you off to a great start.

Stay Organized

If you aren’t an organized person to begin with,  this is going to be a serious challenge. Luckily, there are millions of tools out there to help you and make you stick with it! If you are pretty tidy, it is important to stick to your routine so that you don’t fall off the wagon. Spend the last bit of this year cleaning off your desk, filing away what needs to be filed, cleaning out and organizing your email with dedicated folders for projects so you know where to find things, and setting up your new systems so when you come back from the holidays, you can start with a clean slate.

If you don’t already have a paperless filing system, look into getting a cloud system in place and getting your team acquainted with it so that on January 1st, you can all start using it. You can also utilize apps and online resources like Trello, Slack, or Dropbox to help your team communicate and keep projects organized and timely!


Don’t let yourself get buried this year and your leadership skills fall by the wayside. Delegate menial or time-consuming tasks to your staff so that you can focus on the big, important jobs no one else can do. This will allow you to take charge of your schedule, your company, and your life. Having time for yourself and your personal life outside of the office is crucial, but that isn’t possible without assistance from your team! Let them help you by taking some of the weight off of your shoulders. They are more capable than you think!

Ask for Help

Sometimes we just can’t see the forest through the trees, or we get stuck in a situation that we just don’t have the expertise to get out of, and that’s okay! Things happen. Don’t be afraid to call another professional to get some help. It is always better to call in and expert to deal with the problem than to fumble through it on your own and waste time and money, and potentially hurt your reputation.

Whether you need an accountant, attorney, business consultant, social media marketing guru, or web developer, don’t make the mistake of trying to handle everything yourself! People spend their lifetimes learning and honing their craft to be the best at what they do. Let them work their magic, and you focus on what you are best at. A strong leader is never afraid to admit their weaknesses and seek help from the best!
